Here’s a general rule of thumb I use when determining if a racist comment was made. This may not always be the case, but in general…

If someone makes a statement such as,

I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.

Now switch Latina woman with white male and vice-versa. Does that sound racist to you? Yeah coming from a white male, but from a Latina? Rush Limbaugh thinks so. I agree. In fact I stated as such even before Limbaugh. And folks, there’s nothing racist about calling it when you see it. He’ll catch hell for speaking the truth, and I hope he has the intestinal fortitude to stand up to the criticism. Sure, the trolls will be out in force playing the tired race card to anybody that would see Sonia Sotomayor’s comments for what they are, but it won’t work. It is what it is, and if the neutered Republicans won’t call it, then it’s up to the rest of America. Then again, hasn’t it always been that way?

This issue got my attention, because it’s time we move on, to become truly post racial. And I’ll be damned if I’m leaving the rest of you behind…
