Liberalism Getting A Reality Check In Europe?

It looks like the Europeans have had enough of liberal indoctrination, and may be starting to revolt. If the Dutch are any indication, the European Union may have a different look very soon. The EU parliamentary elections are under way in Europe, and the Dutch were the first to cast their votes. Geert Wilders’ Freedom Party looks to make some big gains. You know Geert, he’s the one that Britain banned for making a film and saying what he felt about Islam. British lefties who cower to Islamic bullies in that once great country stopped him in the airport and turned him around. In fact, Wilders is being charged in his native Netherlands for making anti-Islam comments. That’s right, he could be jailed for opening his mouth. Sounds crazy? Apparently many Europeans think so.

The Brits will be the next to vote. Gordon Brown’s Labor Party is in disarray, with 3 key cabinet members stepping down recently. Defence Secretary John Hutton stepped down and told Brown to come with him for the good of the party. He sees the writing on the wall, and the opposition party in Britain stands to make huge gains in the next round of national elections. Sounds like a revolt to me. I dare to say that I have confidence in the British people to do the right thing and throw the bums out and elect those that share their values.

Does the United States have the same will? If current poll numbers are any indication, yes. Barack Obama is barely treading water with those who approve, and disaprove. The one thing he has going for him is the there is no opposing party to speak of. Republicans have all but capitualted to the Democrats, and instead of reflecting the values of the majority of Americans, they have decided to remain largely silent, even apologizing and retracting if someone actually does occasionally open their mouth. Newt Gingrich told it like it was about Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. He said she was a racist. But with 2012 elections coming up and Newt a possible presidential candidate, the Latino panderding took over and he retracted his statement.

Obama may shoot himself in the foot with nightmarish spending, socialist private industry commandeering, pandering to Islam, and the nagging question about this eligibility to hold the office at all. None of that creates opposition by itself though. Someone needs to step up.

It looks like Europeans may be stepping up to the plate. How about America?
