Chuck Schumer Admits 1986 Amnesty Was A Failure

So you thought he would give up the charade? You thought wrong. in fact, he has taken over for Ted Kennedy as the head pitbull for amnesty, and like ’86, he’s piling it on thick.

Recent comments in Newsday by Schumer affirmed what the rest of us already knew: the 1986 amnesty bill was a sham and just made things worse.

“No one believed it was tough enough on illegal immigration, and it didn’t give enough flexibility on future legal immigration.”

But they rammed it through anyway. The bill might have died though, if not for Schumer. He used every diplomatic skill he had to work it out though, all the while knowing it was a sham.

Now he’s back, in a new, more important role, assuring us once again that this is what we need. In fact, he’s already stated that the borders are now secure, and now we can get to comprehensive immigration reform (code: amnesty). Too bad the FBI doesn’t feel the same way.

Folks, it looks like we have another battle on our hands. Get your phone/fax/e-mails out because it appears that congress will have to be reminded where America stands on “comprehensive” reform as defined by the open borders crowd in Washington. Get ready to hit the streets if necessary. And don’t forget to remind Washington that you have a ballot in your hands. If he wants to push this nightmare this year, we just have to remind them of 2010. It was a hard fought win with Bush in the White House, and it may be even harder with a possible illegal alien in the White House now. But if they think they’re going to slip this one by, they’re wrong.

  • These people never seem to learn from history. Amesty was a travesty in 1986, it would have been a travesty in 2008, and it will be a travest in 2009. We stopped this two years ago and we must make ourselves heard again this time around. It will be a harder fight this time as we have even more por-amnesty politicians in power.
