Feds Cracking Down On Illegal Workers?

Obama? Napolitano? Pelosi? Reid? McCain??? Not so fast. It’s no secret that the Obama administration is looking for a path to citzenship amnesty, so there’s more here than meets the eye.

The Feds have come down on hundreds of businesses across the country, letting them know that their records will be audited to check for illegal alien workers. Great news, right? On the surface yes, but let’s look a little deeper. First, they let these companies know in advance. That gives them the chance to jettison any potential problems before the Feds arrive. Okay, a roundabout way, but if the job gets done, then why complain? Well, they may also fine companies with significant numbers of unverifiable workers. They may. And what is the definition of “significant?” Sounds like a propaganda campaign to me. After all, Obama decided to delay (again) requiring companies to use E-Verify, and in fact, the requirement was stripped out of the porkulus bill. But they’re cracking down are they?

Here’s what I think is really going on. Obama wants to look tough on illegal immigration, but when the comprehensive reform bill is rammed through Congress, all these questionable workers will then suddenly become legal, and all this work place enforcement will cease. Remember, Obama wants amnesty this year. Do you think the Feds will clear out these companies this year? Me either.

Case in point: American Apparel. They have a history of immigration violations in the past, and in fact are pretty much blowing off their latest run-in with the Feds. Judging by the reaction of American Apparel, they just see it as a cost of doing business.And if you believe them, business is good. We don’t know about the working conditions though. Bet there aren’t many complainers. Are you telling me they only have jobs Americans won’t do?

But the coming amnesty will let gross violators like American Apparel off the hook for good. Who said crime doesn’t pay? Keep at it long enough and maybe it will no longer be a crime.
