I’ve heard of the land of opportunity, but this is ridiculous.
Well, no one should be surprised. Former Washington D.C. mayor Marion Barry has been arrested again. This time it’s for stalking a woman. As we all know (or all should know), this isn’t Barry’s first run-in with the law. His claim to fame was being busted in a sting where a surveillance video caught him smoking crack while he was mayor of D.C. Somehow…the littany of charges were dismissed and he only served 6 months in prison.
You would think that would be enough to destroy his career. Other politicians have gone down in flames for lesser transgressions. Not for Marion Barry though. Once he got out, not only was his political career still alive, he was actually re-elected as mayor of D.C! People, my friends in D.C., what’s up?
Barry wasn’t done with the law though. He was again arrested in 2002, when traces of dope were found in his car. He claims it was planted. Sure Marion. Somehow…he got off the hook for that. Well, maybe that was enough to derail him.
Nope. in 2004, this guy was elected to the city council, where he serves to this day. That’s right, he’s still in D.C. politics. Wow, that certainly is a checkered past isn’t it? But wait, there’s more. It turns out this guy is a tax cheat as well. Apparently, he just didn’t bother filing a tax return for several years, including last year. Well, I guess they’re overlooking the tax thing in Washington these days.
Congratulations D.C., You have a crack smoking, tax cheat stalker representing you. Are you proud? Has the district become a better place to live? File this under beyond comprehension.
Marion Barry is a Democrat so I guess it was the same people that voted boy Obama in office that voted Barry in! Stupid Democrats I would say huh larrys!
I sure would be ashame to have voted for Obama the second Carter! Plus I don’t vote for people that can’t prove they are American citizens, but you must not care larrys!

Now as far as my english, it sure didn’t hurt me in making a living and a retirement that is more a month than you make teaching! Also I never failed at any job I ever did as you did as a lawyer, yes to give up being a lawyer to become a teacher that makes 10 time less than a good lawyer would is amitting failer larrys!

It looks like this feud has been going on long before I came along. I’ve said before that I’m not going to delete comments, but at the same time, I’d rather not provide a forum for the ad hominem attacks. I’m all for debate; raucous debate even, but I’m asking that everyone leave out the irrelevant sniping. If you think someone is being obtuse, go ahead and let them know, but don’t attack for the sake of attacking. I think it turns other readers off and they’re less likely to return. So I’m asking everyone and anyone, please, don’t use my blog-my finite server space as a forum for personal vendettas. Thanks.
