Belligerent Gates Plays Race Card

Clearly, this race baiting goon had no idea who he was targeting with his Sharptonesque rant. The cop who threw this bum in the clink happens to be about as upstanding as they come.

Henry Gates, seen by some as a renowned black scholar (not just your run of the mill scholar; this one’s black), apparently locked himself out of his home this week, and attempted to enter the old fashioned way: by force. While he was trying to jimmy the door, a passerby saw him and reported to the police what appeared to be a break in attempt. Enter Sergeant James Crowley. The decorated 11-year veteran responded to the call and approached Gates. What happened next is the point of contention. Gates claims that Crowley played the white cop who hates blacks role and…white copped him, I guess. Crowley’s version is a little different. He says that Gates became belligerent with him, and between the racial tirades even make derogatory comments about his mother. Gates ended up in jail.

The racist cop that Gates made the mistake of attacking just happens to be an expert on racial profiling. In fact, he was hand chosen to train police recruits on how not to target suspects based on race. That role was given to him by the former black police commissioner, who knows him a hell of a lot better than Gates. This man is respected by his peers-of all colors, a decorated officer, and an upstanding citizen. Gates couldn’t have made a worse choice for his racist rant.

Here’s the bottom line: Don’t mouth off to a cop. I don’t care what color you are. They deal with the scum of the earth on a daily basis, and the last thing they need is for you to be nasty and uncooperative. You rudely play your race card, you talk smack about the cop’s mother-hey you’re going to jail pal. Disorderly conduct. Crowley was just trying to find out what was going on. He was willing to put his life on the line to protect Gates’ property and anything-or anybody that was inside.

Just another little tidbit about this white cop. When Boston Celtics star Reggie Lewis collapsed on the court, Crowley was one of the cops responding to the scene. Also trained in emergency response, he gave Lewis mouth to mouth resuscitation in a vain attempt to save him. They don’t make too many better than this guy. Yeah, a real racist.
