Obama Suckles Big Pharma, Minion Axelrod Helps Out

There were plenty of groups that supported Barack Obama’s presidential bid, knowing what he could for them. Well, it looks like the buying off of the administration is continuing, with a little skimming off the top added in.

Former kneepad wearer for Rod Blagojevich, and current kneepad wearer for Barack Obama, David Axelrod is involved in a shady advertising scheme involving, to use an Obamaism relevant stake holders that not only seeks to advance a self serving agenda, but to line the pockets of David Axelrod for the privilege of having access to the White House.

You can read the details here, but in a nutshell, two media firms, AKPD, and GMMB have been paid to run advertising and spin the health care debate, hopefully for the White House in a leftward direction. It looks like these firms were paid by a coalition from private industry. Ok, what’s the big deal, happens all the time doesn’t it? Yes, it does. In this case AKPD happens to be a firm that Axelrod founded, and currently owes him $2 million in severance pay. His son is an employee to boot. Both firms worked on Obama’s campaign, and maintain close ties to the administration. The ad campaign is specifically aimed to push Barack Obama’s health care plan, not reform in general.

It looks like Obama’s strict rules regarding engaging in activities “directly and substantially related” to their former clients or employers for two years is being ignored here. So who stands to gain here? Obama stands to gain if the spin is dizzying enough to shift support towards his health care program. Axelrod certainly stands to gain millions as a result. His former firm has been giving us change since the start. How about the coalition of groups that are funding this ad campaign? Big pharma? Oh yes, and they’ve already gotten a concession on the health care bill that would cap the kinds of costs they would absorb. And having everyone on an insurance plan is just potential customers waiting to be drugged. can’t beat it. How about the AMA? That AMA. Pushing this thing through would create a necessity for more doctors, and they’ll be churned out no matter how shitty they are (don’t believe me, it’s in the freakin’ bill). Future AMA members? How about unions? Yes, that SEIU. Can you say card check? They’re just returning some of the love. You saw some of that love at the town hall meetings.

That puts Barack Obama in the pocket of big pharma, big medicine, and big unions. Do you think he’s looking out for you? All right, let’s be fair: he may actually believe he’s looking out for you. He thinks he knows better than you. In fact, Obama even stated that he’s going to push his agenda through even if it means a one term presidency for him. If he actually is able to ram his agenda down the throat of America, he may only need one term.
