Considering that this opportunist will probably be bounced out of office in 2010, you would think that he would be changing his tune. Unless ACORN told him something we don’t know about, his rhetoric doesn’t make much sense.
Arlen Specter appeared on the Fox News program Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace, and the same Arlen Specter that pissed off so many town hall attendees was the same guy that showed up for the program. Wallace basically asked him why support for the health care plan was tanking, and Specter said that it was because of so much misinformation. Yes, he was saying that the American people just didn’t know what they were talking about. He also suggested that the town hall outrage was an organized effort. Sure, there’s nothing wrong with organizing, but…
In a further effort to stifle debate on the subject, Specter alluded to the fact that there was no bill. Congressman Paul Ryan, who was also a guest, had said that people were getting angry because they were actually reading the legislation and didn’t like what they were reading. He corrected Specter’s assertion that there was no bill. HR 3200. That’s the 1000+ page behemoth that Obama wanted passed before the August recess. So who is misinformed Arlen? He must think Americans are idiots. Oh, yes, he actually did suggest that. And what about the procedural threat the Senate is considering that would only require 50 votes to ram this health care fiasco through? Arlen was..opposed..to it, but as a last, last resort…That’s a yes in English.
Then came the obvious question: Would old Arlen get on the government plan himself if passed? Well, he would consider it. That’s no !@#$%^& way in English.
In the end, Arlen Specter thinks we’re all a bunch of idiots, and the bill will pass-all this anger is just a period of analysis and re-analysis. In other words, the Dems are going to ram this thing through next month. I guess it doesn’t matter what Specter’s position is anymore. His career is winding down…
