Pelosicare, The 1,990 Headed Monster

Are you surprised? Everything the American people railed about at town hall meetings all summer are in this bill. They simply ignored the people.

Democrats huddled behind locked doors and came up with a 1,990 page monstrosity that ended up being almost the exact same thing that was initially presented in H.R. 3200. It’s not clear who actually wrote the bill (we can no longer presume Congress writes anything), but whoever it was wasn’t inclined to change much of anything. Then again, the bill is huge.

From tax increases to death panels, it’s all in there. Individual mandate taxes on the middle class, and even those making less than $10,000 are in there. Yes, Obama lied when he said he wouldn’t raise taxes on the middle class. That lie was exposed months ago anyway when he imposed the cigarette tax. And the black market thanks you Barry. They want everyone in on this party though. They’ve gone after seniors too. Massive cuts in Medicare will pummel seniors. The rampant fraud in that program apparently isn’t even addressed in this bill. How about taxes on insurance policies? Yes, private policies will be taxed because…well, there is no rational reason; they just want to impose another tax. And they’ll nail businesses as well. If they don’t provide acceptable insurance for their employees…the point is moot; businesses will just take the public option. That’s right, the public option is in there, front and center.

Nearly 2000 pages, and it still isn’t clear how this mess will be paid for. If they want to tax businesses until they start to lay off even more workers than they already have, then it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see where the cost of this mess is going. The only option left for the hapless unemployed American, who will be forced to have insurance whether they can afford it or not, whether they even want it or not, will to be to sue doctors for a nice payday. Yes, tort reform was not addressed. I’ve said before that adding millions to the insurance band wagon without addressing malpractice lawsuits was a disaster in the making. Well, now we see the face of that disaster. It’s Pelosicare, and although Steny Hoyer promised that the bill would be available online for 3 days before coming up for a vote, the sheer size of the bill, not to mention the hundreds of pages of amendments that are coming, effectively make it a bill that is literally being shoved down our throats. Yes, it appears to be H.R. 3200, but who the hell knows for sure. It is similar for sure, but what was added? What was removed? This thing just came out. Imagine what will be found in the coming days.

Hey Republicans, why don’t you grow a pair and tie this thing up in the courts? Challenge the constitutionality of mandating Americans have be billed for health insurance. And I don’t want to hear the car insurance argument. You don’t have to drive. You have a choice. A bill this size, with this many mandates can be attacked from so many angles, that a few good attorneys can tie it up for years. There must be a few that aren’t standing in line waiting for a fat tort case. Tie it up at least until power changes in Congress and the bill it just killed outright. Or, you could just pack it in and take advantage of the government funded end of life counseling. Yeah, that’s in there too.
