Fight In Afghanistan Or Get Out Now

Take the greatest army in the world and tie their hands behind their back, and what do you have? Afghanistan.

While Obama dithers and contemplates whether to send more troops into Afghanistan, the troops that are already there are dealing with not only the enemy, but their own chain of command. If you go to war, the idea is to take out the enemy, or have them capitulate using the resources you have available. Our troops are not able to utilize those resources. The “great” General Mc Chrystal, the architect of the Afgan war strategy has come up with rules of engagement that would destroy any army. In this case, that army is ours. Mc Chrystal is so worried about offending the locals (who hate the infidel anyway), that he has come up with what is known as the Karzai 12. These rules essentially hamstring U.S. forces while at the same time making them sitting ducks in a war zone.

Have a seat, because I’m about to tell you what troops in Afghanistan are facing under these rules. How about no nighttime searches? That’s right broad daylight or nothing. No surprise searches. Yes, villages will have to notified in advance when a search is impending. That would mean the Taliban would get a heads up as well. Yes, that’s what it means. They can’t conduct raids without Afghan soldiers or police accompanying them. No, not even if they know they have Taliban fighters trapped. They need escorts. How about no firing on the enemy unless fired upon first? Recipe for dying. Do you believe that one? How about no shooting if civilians are present? Yes, all the Taliban has to do grab some poor schmuck off the street and use him as a human sheild and U.S. troops can only stand and watch. This one really got me though. If troops see the enemy planting a road side bomb, they can shoot, but…if the bomb has already been placed and the thugs are walking away, they cannot. I shit you not.

Gen. McChrystal said that the legitimacy of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) had been “severely damaged … in the eyes of the Afghan people” because of “an over-reliance on firepower and force protection.”

Did you hear that folks? We kick too much ass and protect our troops too well, and the Karzai crowd isn’t happy. Why would he be? The more successful the U.S. is in Afghanistan, the less money Karzai’s brother makes trafficking heroin. Karzai wants his brother to make as much as possible so when they have to hi-tail it out of town, they’ll have a nice little nest egg. Luckily for the fraud that is Hamid Karzai, Gen. Mc Chrystal is going to make it right for him, even if it means Americans dying for nothing. And they are dying this very day under the weight of these impossible rules.

I’ve said before that pulling the troops out and have a few Warthogs strafing selected areas would be very effective. That idea is sounding even better now than it did then.
