Having Muslims serve is not political correctness, it is freedom of religion. There are thousands of Muslims in the US military … one of them has committed a terrorist act, and his co-workers in the psych hospital were concerned about his tendency toward psychopathy. To brand the rest of them — including combat veterans (of Iraq and Afghanistan, no less!) and the desperately-needed translators — is beyond absurd.

This question isn’t just hypothetical or intellectual, by the way. I know a young man whose parents were Iranian-born who serves in the Marine Corps. He’s been to Iraq twice, counting his current tour. He’s a practicing Muslim.

Are you prepared to tell him that his service is suspect? I suspect that he, by the way, would disagree that your post is not an indictment against our fighting men and women.
