The flood of poisonous, unsafe, and otherwise dangerous products coming from China is becoming the stuff of legends, but American companies that just can’t see past making a quick buck continue to outsource the manufacturing of their products, knowing full well what the quality of the final product is likely to be. Only days after the chief of the Consumer Products Safety Commission warned parents to take cheap metal jewelry away from their children, we find out that the garbage that isn’t so cheap is tainted as well.
Remember the uproar because high levels of lead were found in toys coming from China? You can be sure that the lead is still there, but now a new, just as dangerous ingredient is being added as well. Cadmium, a toxic metal that will cause brain damage in children just like lead will, has been found in the cheap metal jewelry that you can find in made in China stores such as Wal-Mart. Some of these toys are toxic to the tune of 90+ percent cadmium. Brain damaging and cancer causing, the CPSC has recommended that parents take this crap away from their children, but as far as I can tell, having retailers pull it from their shelves is optional. The next time you go into one of those dollar stores, and your kid wants one of those cheap pieces…remember this article.[/column]
[column width="47%" padding="6%"]Now Disney has gotten into the act-with the double-barrel help of China and Wal-Mart and are pulling their Chinese made garbage, a pendant that was part of the Princess and the Frog marketing blitz. The CPSC found it to have high levels of cadmium, and although Disney is now feigning outrage at the quality of the product, the fact is that this has been on store shelves since November, and Disney did nothing. What the hell did they expect from China? With the history of poisonous product coming from China, especially with regards to children’s toys, you would think that Disney would take the high road and have those things manufactured somewhere where quality controls were tighter, like the United States. But it’s so much cheaper to have it done in China, that as far as Disney is concerned, you kid can just die if it means more profit for them. Ditto for Wal-Mart.
Most of this crap comes from China, and most of it is sold at Wal-Mart. So the next time you get glassy eyed while going by your local Wal-Mart, keep in mind that it’s probably the toxins emanating from the store that is causing that reaction. If you insist on contiuing on buying that garbage and supporting the physical destruction of the American population, well, it might all work out for you. After all, if Obamacare passes, you can’t be denied for a pre-existing condition. Keep buying toys from Wal-Mart and your child will be able to take advantage of that mandate. [end_columns]
