This thing will blow a hole in Obama’s social justice agenda, and put amnesty to rest for good if allowed to continue. If allowed. That is the key.
The Department of Homeland Security’s 287g program has been highly successful and responsible for the apprehension and deportation of thousands of illegal aliens in the last few year. The feds, in tandem with local law enforcement are not only making arrests, but causing a phenomenon that many thought wasn’t possible: Illegal aliens are leaving on their own.
That’s right, just the threat of being apprehended has caused illegal aliens to leave the state of Georgia in droves. Gwinnett and Cobb counties have seen measurable declines in the illegal alien population, evidenced by business closures, declining arrests, children enrolling in English language programs, and empty streets. Business closures you say? You might think that illegal aliens leaving have had a negative impact on the economy in those areas. Negative for illegal aliens for sure. The areas in question are largely hispanic areas, with businesses that cater to hispanics. It was a closed econony of sorts, not integrated with the rest of the state.
Do you think there may be lost tax revenue due to illegal aliens fleeing the area? Probably. How much is most likely less than it should of been. Good. How much more in taxes should the government get? Our founding fathers revolted over much less than what we are forced to cough up now. And how much of those taxes went for social services for those very same illegal aliens?
But if H.R. 4321 ends up becoming law, this trend will not only reverse, but immediately become worse. Amnesty would give a free pass to the very same people that are leaving now, and allow not only them, but family members as well to come to the United States, amidst one of the worst economic downturns since the great depression. But depression or not, the amnesty scheme has been in the works for years. Obama has promised to try and ram it through this year, and if his past agenda is any indicator, he could care less what the mood of the American people would be. That’s why the DHS wants to neuter this program: it’s too effective. Just ask Joe Arpaio. They’ve already banned him from participating. He just rounded up too many illegal aliens. With amnesty next on the agenda, the last thing they need is an effective program that is actually making strides to reduce illegal immigration.
I’ve said before that this dwarfs anything else thus far that has been on the Obama agenda. It affects everything from jobs, to the health care debate, to crime to overcrowding, and ultimately to homeland security. Opening the borders in a time of war is-I use that word again, treason, and to destroy another country at the same time by stealing their most able-bodied citizens is, if not an act of war, at the most mild, unethical. We know what works. We have proof of its effectiveness. So what do you think the government will do with one of the few programs that is actually yielding positive results?
