New York In Political Flames

Quite a state you have there, New Yorkers. But don’t feel alone. All states have their share of scumbags. You just have more media to shine the light on these cockroaches.

Can we say that New York has just had a run of bad luck, or have just made a series of bad choices? How about a combination of the two? Going back to when New Yorkers elected Hillary Clinton of Arkansas as their senator, only to have her bolt when she got the gig illegally as secretary of state. The Constitution expressly forbids the senator from taking the SOS position if the pay was increased while she was senator. Indeed, the pay was increased during her time in office. Basically, she can’t quit as senator and be appointed to a higher paying position, which is exactly what she did. Yes, she gave the finger to New Yorkers and the Constitution at the same time.

But the carnival of corruption didn’t stop there. New Yorkers also elected former NY attorney general Elloit Spitzer as governor. Tough as nails and take no prisoners with white collar thugs was the mantra of Spitzer, and New Yorkers liked what they saw. Unfortunately, Spitzer liked what he saw too, and went after it. Hookergate was his downfall, yet another politician that couldn’t keep it in his pants. But Spitzer couldn’t just go out and find a girlfriend on the side. No, he wanted his favorite hooker, and ultimately, it blew up in his face, and he resigned. That’s okay, because the madam that supplied Spitzer’s hooker is now running for governor herself! I suppose you could make this up, but in this case, it’s all true.

After Spitzer was tossed out, he was replaced by what seemed to be a perfect politically correct tokenization by the Democrat run legislature in New York. What could be more perfect than a blind African-American? I say African-American, but as far as I know, he’s never been to Africa. Turns out that this guy is a racist piece of garbage, but on the positive side, he knows how to take care of his friends. One of those friends just happened to sexually harass a woman, and the governor went out of his way to pressure the woman to drop the accusation. Dave was caught pulling this stunt, but unlike Spitzer, has refused to resign. However, some of his top aides have run screaming from his administration. And if their comments are any indicator, he’s as guilty as they come.

Communications Director Peter Kauffmann bolted Thursday, saying he could not remain at his job in “good conscience.”

Denise O’Donnell, the governor’s public safety czar, abruptly quit in disgust, and State Police Superintendent Harry Corbitt retired rather ride out the firestorm sparked when Paterson and his security detail contacted a domestic violence victim.

You would think that most people would hang it up when even the people around you just can’t take it. The toxic Patterson is hanging on for now, despite numerous calls for resignation, including from the White House. You know, if Obama thinks you’re toxic, then it’s really time to go.

We don’t need to rehash the entire NY23rd District debacle, where RINO Dede Scozzafava turned out to be a Democrat, and even supported the candidate the admitted he was a Dem, over Doug Hoffman, citizen candidate who should have won that election. Well, all states have their share of voting machine trouble.

As if New Yorkers hadn’t gotten enough drama from their elected officials, enter Eric Massa, who couldn’t even finish a single term before resigning. Apparently, he tried to nail a male staffer, but was obviously rejected. The incident sparked a house ethics investigation, but instead of becoming another Elliot Spitzer, Massa has decided to quit. You’re sleeping on the couch tonight, Eric. It remains to be seen if his family sticks by him. We can only speculate that this has never happened before. Yeah.

What’s next for New York? Who knows, but maybe after November New Yorkers will have finally gotten a clue and will install representatives that are shall we say, less controversial? If they can at least get Hoffman elected in NY23 that would be a start.

  • It has been a pretty screwed up situation in New York, maybe they will have finally had enough and will do the right thing in November. But I wouldn’t count on it, they are still New Yorkers after all. (Being a Red Sox fan I couldn’t help the dig.)

NY is just an example with what’s wrong in general. The scum has risen to the top, and I think the people have had enough. Too bad things had to get this bad before anyone got angry though.

I’m with you. Being a Dodger fan, it pained me to see the Yanks win another one.

  • The Dodgers do have a Boston connection, the owner of the Dodgers tried to buy the Sox at one time. He is a Boston boy.
I agree with you, it is too bad it had to get to this point before people started waking up, but at least they are starting to wake up.

  • The scum has risen. It must be washed and disinfected asap.

  • New York is not alone. Each state is going to have to work diligently to disinfect their state at each level of government.

  • Yeah, it seems like the wheels are turning very slowly though.
