Did Obamacare Kill Amnesty?

Miracles do happen, and this may be one of them. You can’t just alienate an entire country, along with a party that represents a huge chunk of that country, destroy careers of those that supported you from day one and expect to continue a destructive agenda. That’s not to say Barry won’t try.

Immigration reform is dead this year. Sure, you may hear that from the likes of a Tom Tancredo in his fighting days, but when those words are coming from a hardcore open borders advocate, it may be worth a second look. Lindsey grahamnesty Graham, the RINO whose immigration philosophy is to the left of John McCain has stated just that, and he blames the fiasco that culminated in the disputed Obamacare bill being rammed down the throats of the American people. With no Republican support at all, this thing has become the law of the land. That means at least half the American people were not even considered while this thing slithered through congress. Many Obama supporters were not happy either (just ask the folks who made that clear in Massachussets). Now, Obama wants to ram amnesty up the chute of America, and if even Graham is balking, then the chances look good that this thing can at least be delayed until November, where the entire ridiculous scheme will surely die with a fatal blow from the American voter.

This looks like a possible light at the end of the proverbial tunnel, but then again, you just can’t trust those in Washington. I’ve said before that Graham’s statements may be just for show to make it look like there is legitimate debate on the subject. His words were more direct this time, and unless he is in one of the safest districts in America, will be held to account.

“To the president: If you want to deliver on your unwavering commitment to immigration reform, write a bill,” he said. “You write the bill, send it to the House. See what happens, because I don’t think you have much of a chance of getting it through the Senate.”

That’s giving the political bird where I come from. Write your own damn bill, but don’t send it here pal. Old Lindsey sounds very angry at how the health care process went. As well he should. That bill was pre-arranged who knows how long ago, and there was nothing the Republicans or American people could do or say to prevent it. They may have spent all their political capital on one thing though. That would make it very expensive, because the reality is, Obama had a truck load of capital when he was sworn in as president.

Graham was one of the few Republican allies Obama had, at least as far as immigration, and he has damaged that relationship. At least he still has McCain. Now, even his fellow Dems are telling him to stay away, realizing how toxic this guy really is. Well, they could have read a few blogs as early as 2008 and gotten that news. It may will be too late for the Democrats that sacrificed themselves for Obama already. The ones that still have a chance at survival may just join Lindsey Graham and put immigration reform to sleep. They must realize that if American was this angry about health care, imagine how incensed they would be to have their borders erased. I’m not going to be overly optimistic, but this is appears to be a good omen.

  • I have heard that the healthcare fiasco may have killed amnesty but as much as I hope that it is true, this administration has shown us that it will stop at nothing to pass whatever the hell Obama wants. If Obama wants amnesty I am afraid he will get it, one way or the other. These Democrats do not care about the rules any more, the end justifies the means, and I just hope that it is true and Obama has spent all his capitol on healthcare reform.

  • This administration has been emboldened. They don’t care. The only ones who are really worried are those that are facing re election in November.

  • It’s my opinion that the fate of the country is riding on this issue more than any other. This is sovereignty 101. We better think of something to stop this.
