GOP Targets Illegal Alien Tax Credits

Just think about this: Your tax dollars go to fund the bailouts, the failed stimulus, ACORN, the SEIU, Eric Holder’s Justice Department, outreach to Muslim terrorist programs, aid to al-Qaeda in Libya, the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and that’s just skimming the surface. At the same time, illegal aliens are not only partaking in billions of dollars of taxpayer funded benefits in this country, if they file taxes, they actually end up with a refund-courtesy the American taxpayer. The GOP is trying to put an end to this, and as expected, the usual suspects are up in arms.

Republicans have floated a plan that would deny child tax credits to illegal aliens. If they don’t have a verifiable social security number, they wouldn’t be eligible. Let’s put this in perspective. They aren’t supposed to be here in the first place, so it isn’t really a denial is it? It’s just recovering money that rightly belongs to U.S. citizens.

Not so, says Harry Reid. According to Reid, although the parents may be illegal, the children may not be, and thus Americans citizens will suffer. Of course, Reid is misinterpreting the 14th Amendment. The children of illegal aliens born in this country should not be deemed citizens. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say anything like that. However, the Mexican constitution is very clear. Those kids are Mexican citizens regardless of where they are born, as long as at least one parent is a Mexican citizen.

Republicans are looking for a way to pay for an extension of the social security tax cuts. That’s a misnomer, since none of that money belongs to Washington. I won’t play word games here, but the National Council of La Raza will. Their position is that poor people are paying for the tax cuts. They don’t mention the illegal part. Of course not, for them, it is America that is illegal.

As far as the savings, the math is a little fuzzy. The Treasury Department says $4 billion in tax credits went to those without social security numbers last year. At the same time, projected savings from cutting off illegal aliens is $10 billion over 10 years. Now, on my calculator, the number is $40 billion. Are the bureaucratic costs that high? Well, I guess we have to consider the possibility.

It’s good to see that Republicans-at least some of them refuse to pander to the la raza crowd. Any country in its right mind will secure their borders, despite what Ron Paul says. It remains to be seen if this thing dies on the vine or not. We know it would die in the senate, along with every other bill besides obamacare. Hopefully that all changes in November. Until then, we can expect Harry Reid and his gang to continue slapping the American people across the face, while handing tax credits to illegal aliens, courtesy of those same Americans.
